Popular Front of India Chairman E. M. Abdul Rahman declared the adoption of ten villages in Murshidabad District as Sarva Siksha Grams. He also inaugurated the distribution of 10,000 school kits to the needy students and distributed second phase of scholarship scheme for under graduate deserving students on 1st January 2012 at Doulatabad in Murshidabad district of West Bengal.

 

West Bengal Popular Front State authority organise a Flood Relief Camp, to distribute essential kits to the natural calamity victims. Flood water has been disrupted normal life in these areas of the poor families of Bengal. Villagers have incurred massive loss as the floodwater inundated houses and completely damaged stretched of agricultural land.

The flood has affected at least 30,000 people in six districts of the state. More than 2,000 hectares of agricultural land has been flooded and paddy crops destroyed.

NEW DELHI: Decks were today cleared for impeachement proceedings against Calcutta High Court judge Soumitra Sen with a judicial committee set up by Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari finding him guilty of misappropriating "large sums" of funds and making false statement regarding it.

The report of the three-member committee, placed in both Houses of Parliament, said it was of the opinion that Justice Sen was "guilty of 'misbehaviour' under Article 124(4) read with proviso (b) to Article 217(1) of the Constitution of India."
