Welfare Schemes or Political Gimmicks ?

Women Squatted on the streets demanding scholarships for their children

Perambalur TN :  Around 125 parents including popular front members and general public were arrested at Perambalur district for demanding scholarship for their children under the welfare schemes announced by the govt.

A Rally and a Protest held at Perambalur district headed by district president Aboobakkar siddique with following demands.

  • Condemning the district administration that for intentionally not announcing, refusing to send circulars to the instituitions about Minorities Educational scholarship (for Muslims, Christians, Dalits) announced by Central and State govts.
  • Urges the district authorities to announce and to send circular to the institutions and to create awareness among minorities about the educational scholarship  immediately
  • It urges the govt to dismiss Head Master of V. Kalathur Government school for his derogatory remarks against muslim women
  • to establish minorities welfare office cum information center at Perambalur district

Similarly in Nellai west district popular front encountered ill experience on their  School Chalo projects.

Popular front president said, " Though education for all is a Constitutional Right  Welfare shemes introduced by Prime ministers 15 point agenda and other UPA Governments minority welfare schemes didn't benefit as expected".

Popular front organizes a camp to assist Poor students throughout Tamilnadu to get scholarship.Many Muslims, poor and illiterate, got only negative results in many places.

Even Government school (For example Government school at Panpoli Nellai West) are not interested to apply for the minority welfare schemes.

Some institutions applied in the past didn't get benefit out of this schemes complains a school Head Master of a government aided school at Kadayanallur Nellai West district of Tamilnadu. He can provide a list of eligible candidates as per the norms stipulated in government notification. yet he didn't receive any benefit out of these minority welfare schemes for the past 3 years.
