Uduppi: KM Shareef speaking at Independence Rally

National General Secretary KM Shareef speaking at Independence Rally- Uduppi

Udupi, Aug 15: The BJP government in the state has been sponsoring atrocities on Daliths, Muslims, Christians, poor and the down trodden. That has also been suppressing the progressive and the minority organisations fighting for their rights, using the police power, alleged the National General Secretary of Popular Front of India KM Shareef.

He was speaking at a mega Independence Rally organised by PFI, at Belapu, near here on Sunday. Shareef said that capitalists have been looting the natural resources of the state by illegal mining. Poor man's land is being encroached. At their cost a small section of people was enjoying freedom.

He said that PFI had conducted a Freedom Parade at Mangalore with its members in uniform taking up march fast in 2008. When they applied for a permission to conduct a similar Independence parade in Udupi and Mysore, the government objected for wearing uniform and did not give permission. Against the government's decision they had approached the High Court, Sahreef said adding, "the government which had stripped Hajabba and Hasanabba may order Muslims not to wear uniforms or even any other cloth. But that cannot suppress our spirit of patriotism and respect for the Constitution". He expressed hope to hold the Independence Parade in uniform after obtaining the court order. audiancc

Commenting on the allegation by the government that their organisation had links with terrorism outfits, Shareef ridiculed that their organisation was no way connected with Sangh Pariwar which had been sponsoring terrorism.

Abdul Lathif Puttur said that they would not violate the law of the land but were committed to conduct the Independence Parade in uniform after the court order in the future years.
