Popular Front march towards Governor Palace (Chennai Raj Bhavan)

Chennai: Popular Front of India took out a Raj Bhavan March on 25 March 2010 to press the demand for reservation to Muslims in Central Government services and in admission to educational institutions. The March started from Rajaratnam Stadium , Egmore at 11 :30 am.

Popular front of India’s Tamilnadu President Mohamed ali Jinna addressed the  gatherings , in his key note address stated that “Popular front of India conducts "Rajbhavan march " is a part of nationwide Campaign to demand 10 % reservation for Muslim, which is going on , on various places throughout India during the months of February and March.

Aim of this March is to urge the centre to implement reservation to all muslims all over india immediately. Considering the social and economic backwardness Indian national congress has offered reservation for minorities in Kerala Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. If It is committed to adopt this policy at national level as mentioned in its election Manifesto this is the time to implement. Popular front urges the center to implement immediately.

Ruling DMK also in its manifesto promised to demand Reservation for muslims. We ask them to urge the centre to continuously demand for muslim reservation  to all muslim .

National executive council member Dr. Awad Sherif in his address stated that “ As per our Indian constitution Article 15(4) and 16(4) to uplift a society from backwardness getting Reservation is their constitutional  right"

“Commissions after commissions clearly proved and depicted  the backwardness of Muslims”, he said and enlisted commissions as below
“In 1882 Sir Syed proposed it first
1953 kaka kalelkar commission
1983 Gopal singh commission
1989 Mandal commission
2006 Sachar commission now. but so far action has not been taken to solve the problem.
popular front will continuously demand and strive hard to get Muslim reservation”.

National executive council member BS Hameed in his speech said," we played pivotal role in  the formation of India when it is under occupation, our forefathers fought against British colonialism, we are proud to be the progeny of those freedom fighters but unfortunately we are now took out to the street for our existence. The reason for this pathetic condition is due to the conspiracy of the fascists. Muslims are marginalized in almost every sectors. Action must be taken to ensure adequate representation in govt services and education immediately.

Social democratic party of India Tamilnadu state president Sheik Mohamed Tehlan Baqavi said," congress took 10 years to implement Mandal Commission. If it repeats the same  historic blunder again in mishra commission recommendations then Muslims will certainly reconsider their support to the Congress Alliance in the next election.

He added that, it is shocking to know that while congress could submit womens reservation bill under stiff resistance from the opposition, Manmohan singh speaks about consensus to implement Muslim reservation is absurd.
