Kochi: National Confederation of Human Rights Organisations (NCHRO) alleged that there was police conspiracy behind the arrest of human rights activists Adv. N M Siddique and Abdussalam leveling fake charges.
It’s evident that the arrest of Siddique was made as revenge from the part of police. Because, National Human Rights Commission had sent notice to Kerala Police as per the complaint from Adv. Siddique regarding the police atrocities against Muslims under the pretext of investigation into the Moovattupuzha incident.
Police arrested the duo ostensibly due to the seizure of objectionable pamphlets from the office of NCHRO at Kochi. At the same time NCHRO leaders complained that the office was forced open breaking the lock without even informing the concerned office bearers about the raid. There no enough witnesses at the time of the raid and seizure.
The leaders also said that the CD’s and Books police seized are available in the open market.
The authorities didn’t even let the leaders know about the charges against human rights activities, and hence we couldn’t move proper bail application in the court, said Reni Ilin, state vice president of CHRO.
NCHRO also protested the discriminatory actions from the part of police.
A magistrate court had rejected the bail application of N M Siddique and Abdussalam yesterday.
