Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan informed the assembly today that there were no such Taliban courts functioning in the state.
He also said that government was also looking into the veracity of media reports about Taliban style courts functioning in the state.
He was replying to a submission raised by Congress legislator Aryadan Muhammed who wanted an enquiry into the functioning of Taliban courts.
Mohammed said the first such report appeared in Veekshanam daily this month and was followed by other dailies. Aryadan argues that the Popular Front of India (PFI) is primarily responsible for such Taliban model courts.
Replying to this, Balakrishnan said it was reported that these so called courts settle family issues, boundary disputes and also issues concerning faith. The government is yet to receive any complaint about Taliban courts, he added.
