Gulbarga: SDPI continues its struggle for water supply to Millath Nagar
Gulbarga: Social Democratic Party of India, Gulbarga district, yesterday organized a Rasta-Rokho protest here at Humnabad Circle, Ring Road.
The party had been demanding water-supply to Millath Nagar for several months. It is mentionable that the party cadres had staged huge protest in the area last month also. However they withdrew the protest after the assurance of permanent solution for the issue by concerned authorities. The Executive Engineer of Water Supply Board had visited and discussed with the protesters on the occasion.
Then he had alleged that there are many water connections in Millath Nagar which are illegal. In the very moment he had been asked to prove the allegation, but he had no convincing answer. Later a joint survey was conducted by SDPI Activists of the Millath Nagar Ward Committee and the authorities of Water Supply Board. The survey revealed that no illegal connection existed in the area.
The Executive Engineer assured of conducting a Camp in the area and does the needful in connection with the proper supply of water and that the water will be supplied as early as possible, but the assurance had remained undone.
The Cadres of the SDPI including women came to the street on 2nd January to condemn this injustice. The Rasta-Roko was led by Syed Dastageer, SDPI district president, Abdul Rahim Mulla, district general secretary, Shams Tabrez, district secretary and the office bearers of Millath Nagar Ward Committee, Mukhtar Khan (ward president) ,Mohammad
Mujaheed (ward vice president), Mohammad Ali (ward gen Secretary).
Shahid Naseer, district president, Popular Front of India, Shaikh Siraj pasha, dist secretary were also present at the program. They expressed fullsupport and solidarity for ongoing protest.
