Field common candidates against treachery of mainstream parties: Popular Front
Calicut: The National Executive Council of Popular Front of India urged all organizations, institutions and leaders of Muslims and other backward communities to jointly field common candidates against the major political parties or political fronts in some of the decisive constituencies in different parts of the country as a test dose of positive politics.
The main stream party politics in India throughout the past six decades has failed to provide equal share in power to all classes of citizens in India. The Muslims and other backward classes remain marginalized because of deliberate exclusion and exploitation of them by different parties and successive governments in the centre and states. The list of candidates for the upcoming elections proposed by different political parties in all states once again illustrates that they are not fielding candidates belonging to Muslim community even in Muslim concentrated constituencies.
The National Political Conference organized by Popular Front of India at Calicut on 13 to 15 February 2009 heralded the emergence of a national level political movement which is capable of empowering Muslims and other marginalized sections. This movement will be in the forefront, fighting for rights and justice and also consolidating the votes for bringing the deprived sections into power. "We realize this emerging movement doesn't have enough time required to field our own candidates in the forth coming Lok Sabha elections. But the mainstream political parties of different states will not be allowed to take full benefit of hitherto exercised negative politics of Muslims and other marginalized classes. Hence as an interim strategy during the coming Lok Sabha elections, Popular Front calls upon all organizations, institutions and leaders of Muslims and other backward communities to jointly field common candidates against the major political parties or political fronts in a few decisive constituencies in different parts of the country as a test dose of positive politics". The meeting urged.
E.M Abdurahman, Chairman Popular Front presided over the meeting. K.M Shareef, Gen. Sec Popular Front presented the report. A Saeed, , O.M.A Salam, Dahlan Baqavi, E. Abubaker, K. Abdul Latheef, Mohammed Ali Jinnah, V.P Nasruddin, Prof. P. Koya, Dr. Mahboob Shariff and Usman Baig attended the meeting.
