Eid Message from Chairman, Popular Front of India

Monday, September 28th, 2009

In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful

I convey very warm greetings to all believers who are celebrating Eid marking the end of month long fasting.   The spirit of fasting in Ramadan is not confined to purification of self.  It also strengthens the onward march for truth and justice.  It is not a mere coincidence that Ramadan witnessed most of the struggles in Islamic history.   Today also we are celebrating a festival of patience and steadfastness in the path of struggles.   I pray that as a result of this Ramadan let the resistance movements in the Muslim world against imperialistic forces and oppressive governments attain much more strength.  The trend of oppressing neo-social movements for continuing rights violations is on the increase in our country also.  It is noteworthy that  the mysteries behind pseudo encounter killings are being continuously being unfolded now .
More than a hundred innocent persons including state leaders of Poplar Front had been in jail for two months till 27th of this Ramadan as victims of the communal agenda of BJP Government in Karnataka.  Though they are released now due to a High Court verdict which quashed their detention stating it illegal, the fascist government is moving ahead with more fake cases and new black laws.
Let this Idul Fitr be an occasion to express our solidarity with all oppressed people and rights defenders in our country and outside. Let us pray for them all.

E. M. Abdul Rahiman
Chairman, Popular Front of India
