DySP Headquarters Working as Torture Centers in Kerala

Kochi: It’s reported that the headquarters of DySPs in Ernakulam district were functioning as torture centers here. To maintain secrecy of the brutal torture and escape from the eyes of law, the police officers are using their headquarters at Aluva, Moovattupuzha and Perumbavoor to detain and torture people, reported Thejas daily in Kerala.
Police are following bruatl, unscientific and illegal methods to elicit information from the accused and to get false confessions from innocent people.
This kind of secret torture centers were functioning during the investigations into the Kashmir recruitment case, case related to SIMI, Kalamassery bus burning case etc. Finally they used this kind of illegal methods in the case of attack towards college teacher at Moovattupuzha. And it’s reported that this secret prison in the model of CIA’s torturing centers in different countries were functioning with the knowledge and silent approval of higher police officials and concerned minister. The minister and the authorities who are publicly opposing tortures in custody are closing thier eyes towards this secret detention centers, alleged the report.
The police were given free hand to torture in a brutal manner in the cases regarding the so called 'terrorism'. Most of the victims who are going through the harsh experiences here used to be from Muslim community.
Some individuals who were caught in connection with the assault case even told the magistrate in the court about this secret detention centers. The police are showing the arrest only when the family of detained people come forward with legal actions days after the disappearance of thier loved ones, said the report.
