Kollam: A Vasu, noted social activist and state committee member of National Confederation of Human Rights Organisations (NCHRO) asked the civil society and human rights activists to come forward against the moves by Karnataka government to frame up faked charges against Ma’dani, chairman of Kerala based People’s Democratic Party (PDP). He was speaking in a press conference after visiting Ma’dani at Anvarssery Complex.
Ma’dani was jailed by Tamilnadu police for long nine and half years framing false charges against him in Coimbatore blast case. However he was exonerated by the court. What is going on now is the repetition of the same thing. In Coimbatore blast case, it was proved in the court that police had produced fake witnesses by the means of intimidation. Here in the Bangalore case also, he was implicated on the basis of the statement by main accused, Thadiyantavide Naseer. It is said that police were seen torturing Naseer to give statement against Ma’dani, A Vasu said.
It’s evident that Sanghpariwar and IB officials are behind this conspiracy. What they fear in Madani’s case is his attempt to bring backward, minority sections under one banner and to lead them to the power centers of the society.
It should be noted that he was arrested in Coimbatore blast case while Jayalalithaa’s AAIDMK, the alley of NDA was in power in Tamilnadu. Now the BJP government of Karnataka is trying to put his behind bars, he added.
He also said that NCHRO would hold awareness campaigns in this issue. A Vasu also visited the venue of indefinite hunger strike by PDP leaders organized in protest against the attempts to put Ma’dani behind bars and expressed solidarity with their strike.
