Resolution 1 : Anti torture bill proposed by the center have several loopholes. According to this bill Govt can only take action against the Police officer accused of committing torture after getting permission. NCHRO condemns this bill because It seems that the bill was created to help the accused officers to escape from punishment. NCHRO urges the centre to revise the bill and implement the same after getting suggestions and recommendations from human right activists.
Resolution 2: Arrest DSP’s Pratap Singh, Eswaran, Chandrapaul and other policemen who lynched Kadayanallur Mohamed masood in police custody and put them behind bar immediately. Include Inspector PK.Ravi of Kadayanallur Police station in this custodial murder case as an accused, who forged the government documents by preparing two FIRs having one serial number. Book him in separate criminal case as an accused . NCHRO urges the government to render appropriate compensation for the victim’s wife and children seeking for justice for more than 5 years.
Resolution 3: NCHRO strongly condemns the Government’s attitude and behavior against those who criticizes the government especially World Tamil Classical language conference. It is against the freedom of speech. Govt has the right to conduct conferences similarly people have also right to criticize it. NCHRO strongly condemns the arrest of makkal kalai ilakkiya kazhagam and puratchikara ilaignar munnani activists pasted posters criticizing the government. 111 Srilankan Tamils were not allowed to walk freely till the conference finished and they were restricted in refugee camps and treated as a criminal. NCHRO strongly condemns this attitude of portraying a community as a criminal as a whole.
Resolution 4: yet another example of the double standards of the State machinery and Judiciary is Bhopal Union carbide industrial Disaster verdict. More than 60% of Muslims being affected in this tragedy. Government should be responsible for the whole tragedy. Union carbide chairman Warren Anderson must be extradited and brought to justice. Those affected must be given adequate compensation and govt must rehabilitate them all. NCHRO considers the disaster is due to the backtracking in foreign policy of the government.
