Resolution adopted by the National Executive Council of the Popular Front of India held at Calicut on 29 March 2009
Calicut: This meeting of National Executive Committee of the Popular Front of India expresses its concern at the division and infighting of the secular forces which may help the fascist forces win more seats by default. It is also unfortunate that no parties or political fronts have been able to present policies or programmes which are fundamentally different from each other or offer alternate development models capable of removing poverty and hunger of the common people. And both the Congress and left parties have sidelined Muslims and other weaker sections in this election also.
As an organization with considerable presence in Kerala, Tamilnadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Manipur, Rajasthan and Goa, Popular Front of India reiterates its decision to work for the formation of a new political party. But we decide not to have an active role in the current Lok Sabha Election as the ground is not yet ready for the emergence of a viable political alternative. However, the State Committees will decide their political course in this Lok Sabha Election taking in to account local factors, but always in compliance with principles of positive politics and empowerment of the marginalized classes.
Chairman E. M. Abdul Rahman presided over the meeting. E. Abubacker, P. Koya, A. Saeed, V. P. Nasrudeen, Mohamedali Jinnah, K. Abdul Latheef, K. M. Shareef were present in the meeting.
