Kunangudi Haniffa Released after 12 years in jail without any charges

Chennai (TN)  May 22 : Kunangudi Haniffa a veteran muslim Political leader and founder of once united Tamilnadu Muslim

Munnetra Kalagam (TMMK) was released without any charges along with 8 other innocent muslim boys.. They were accused of Babri Masjid Anniversary bombings. Poonamalee court had given them all a clean chit because of lack of evidence .They remained in jail and suffered for about 12 years without any charge sheet being filed against them. Future of all these innocents is at stake

On December 6, 1997 three bomb blasts occur at the railway stations of Trichy, Erode and Trichur simultaneously that shook

the state then. 10 passengers were dead and more than 70 injured. CBCID police registered and investigated the case.

Kunangudi Haniffa of Devakottai was accused as prime conspirator and along with him 8 others namely Eruvadi Kassim, Ali

Abdullah, Kutti alias Mohamed ali khan, Shamsad Ahmed, Riazur Rahman were arrested on 15-12-1998 under the Explosives act.

Two other accused related to this case, one person Mohamed sultan died and another person Ashraf is absconding.

A special court for this bomb blast at poonamalee being constitiuted and inquired about 151 witnesses.  Yet judgment

postponed many times.  So the accused including Kunangudi Haniffa went on fasting in their Puzhal Jail to protest against

unnecessary delay in delivering them Justice. While many convicted criminals been given lifetime imprisonment after finishing

their term were released They remained imprisoned as a "visaranai kaithi" for more than a life term imprisonment. Many were

released on Anna birthday centenary celebrations also.

Yesterday on 21-5-2010 the Accused were brought to the court before the magistrate at poonamalee special court. Justice Prem

Kumar pronounced his verdict that there is no sufficient evidence enough to prove 8 person including Kunangudi Haniffa being

guilty  or being involved in the bomb blasts and released them all.

Friends and relatives of the innocent accused with complete faith in Indian Justice system stood at the court premises

eagerly expecting for the final judgment since morning. After the good news came for them they hugged each other in joy.

After the bomb blast occurred almost every Muslim organizations condemned the cowardly act as a  heinous crime. As usual

Muslims true voices were suppressed and despite widespread condemnation of Muslim leaders their press releases didn’t

publicized by the mainstream  media then. Thus anti Muslim atmosphere was created. This is yet another the example of Indian

Islam phobia.

While the real terrorists are striking at their will throughout the country, bombings civilian targets continues,

Intelligence bureau simply blames organizations or individuals with Arabic names on the next day itself and diverts the

attention of the mass public without allowing the law enforcement agencies and the justice system to take their own course.

But the government must be vigilant and determinant to stop the real terrorism expects the victims.
